Joseph Gioia, PhD, Psychologist, ADAPT Community Network

Dr. Joseph Gioia has been working with ADAPT since 1987 and is currently consulting and supervising at ADAPT & Human First. He has almost 50 years of experience working with patients with Developmental Disabilities and has been an SCIP Instructor/Trainer for 30 years.
His extensive experience spans several different realms of human psychology, including participation on the NYS Task Force for Development on Human Sexuality, Behavior Regulations Development for OPWDD, a chairperson position on the Human Rights Committee, as well as developing and implementing
innovative programs for DD populations with co-occurring psychiatric issues such as self-help groups, crisis intervention, and developing staff into behavior mentors to support individuals.
