Favorite part of the job: My primary favorite aspect of my job is providing understanding. The evaluations I complete help people, their families, care providers, schools, therapists, etc. obtain a better sense of how an individual thinks, feels, learns, and navigates their world. If performed correctly, a solid evaluation can assist someone with obtaining needed supports, accommodations, services, and interventions to enhance their life and increase their skills while fostering functional independence.

Best experience on the job:  While nebulous, the best experiences I have are often working with people being diagnosed the first time. Providing an opportunity to allow them to tell their story in its entirety and have a profession really listen to them makes all the difference in the world. Being able to understand the nuances of their live and convey understanding is often something that many people have not experienced previously in their lives. It is important for me that I provide that to those I work with each day.
