Following a recent announcement from Governor Kathy Hochul affirming New York State’s dedication to the tenets of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the landmark Olmstead decision, CP State is expressing strong support for the administration’s continued focus on inclusion and accessibility.
Reflecting on the impact of this commitment for the individuals and families served across New York, CP State President & CEO Mike Alvaro issued this statement:
CP State, whose Affiliates have an 80 year history of providing supports and services to people with I/DD and their families, thank Governor Hochul for her support and recognition of the progress we’ve made as a State and country to ensure people with disabilities are truly a part of their community. Her affirmation of the tenets included in the ADA and the Olmstead decision are music to the ears of the disability community, and we look forward to working with her administration to ensure New York’s State’s commitment to people with disabilities effects ongoing improvements in the areas of equity and access for all New Yorkers with disabilities.
